VW Scirocco R line introduced


Volkswagen has announced several changes to the Scirocco range, including the arrival of a sporty new trim level - the R Line.
The VW Scirocco R line is based on the GT model, and features a new body kit with bespoke bumpers, side skirts and 19-inch alloy wheels. Inside, the R Line features leather R line sports seats plus an R line steering wheel and pedal covers. Prices start from £26,995.
At the bottom of the range, Volkswagen has dropped the price of the entry level Scirocco by up to £600, depending on engine choice. In addition, all entry-level models now feature touchscreen sat-nav, a multifunction steering wheel and 17-inch alloy wheels as standard.
Finally, all mid-range GT models now come with leather upholstery and heated front seats at no extra cost.

Skoda Yeti Urban - deal of the week


Online broker www.carfile.net is offering the Skoda Yeti Urban Special Edition 1.2 TSI or 2.0 TDI, with savings of around £800. We rate the Skoda Yeti highly - our sister title Auto Express, even crowned it their Car of the Year in 2010.
With only 750 units going into production, Urban models are based on the SE trim and include extras worth £2,450 - including sports seats, sat-nav and metallic paint.
The 1.2 TSI is priced at £16,195, the 2.0 TDI is on sale for £17,495.

Volvo V40 prices announced


The new Volvo V40 hatchback is now available to order, with prices starting from £19,745.
The V40 is available in three trim levels, ES, SE and SE Lux with Bluetooth fitted as standard on all models. The 1.6-litre diesel model is fitted with stop/start and is capable of 78.5mpg with emissions of 94g/km – making it exempt from Road Tax.
Safety features include standard-fit City Safety automatic braking technology, the world's first pedestrian airbag and an optional Pedestrian Detection system, effective at speeds of up 22mph.
Entry-level ES trim comes with climate control, 16-inch alloy wheels stability and traction control, plus a leather steering wheel and gear knob as standard.
In addition, Volvo V40 Nav models include a 7-inch touchscreen sat-nav system, with voice-activated control and DVD player.
Production begins in May 2012, with the first customer deliveries due in September.

Mazda6 Venture Edition


The Mazda6 Venture Edition is now on sale, priced from £21,000.
The Venture Edition is based on Mazda6 TS2 saloon and estate models, but benefits from additional equipment including a Sanyo sat-nav device, Bluetooth, half leather upholstery and heated front seats. It is priced between £340-to-£480 more than the TS2 donor vehicle.
Other standard equipment includes front, side and curtain airbags, automatic wipers, leather steering wheel, CD autochanger plus front and rear parking sensors.
On the outside, Venture Edition models get 17-inch gunmetal alloy wheels, a new grille and privacy glass. Buyers also have the choice of a special range of body colours including Crystal White Pearlescent and Dolphin Grey Mica. Only 257 examples are going into production.
Two engines are available, one 2.0-litre petrol that returns 40.9mpg and produces emissions of 159g/km, plus one 2.2-litre diesel that is capable of 53.3mpg and up to 141g/km.
The Mazda6 Venture Edition is available to order now, with 0% and 5.9% APR finance, up to 50% minimum deposit and up to 36 monthly repayments.

Renault Twizy now on sale


The Renault Twizy Z.E electric car is now on sale, priced from £6,690.
Measuring just 2.34 metres long and 1.24 metres wide, the Twizy is designed for use in an urban environment and seats two passengers, who sit in tandem.
It is powered by a 17bhp electric motor that produces zero emissions and drives the rear wheels. It can reach a top speed of around 50mph. There are three trim levels available: Urban, Colour and Technic.
The Twizy is charged using a standard three-pin plug and takes three and half hours for a full charge - at a cost of around £1. Maximum range is approximately 60 miles.
Buyers also face a battery hire fee, priced from £45 per month, based on 4500 miles per year over a three year contract. Optional equipment includes scissor doors priced at £545 and a driver and passenger blanket at £110.
Saftey systems include a driver's airbag and three-point seatbelts, with an additional strap for the driver. The Renault Twizy's occupants are not required to wear a crash helmet.
